Topic - "Retail and Apparel Returns within Four Walls" - Las Vegas 2007

Barb Wood has an impressive 20-year career with one of the nation's best-known apparel and outdoor equipment suppliers, L.L.Bean. Her career started as an order picker and telephone customer service representative where she learned the L.L.Bean culture and the nature of its highly regarded satisfaction guarantee. Her career led her to stints in industrial engineering and continuous improvement as well as management roles in receiving/quality assurance and order fulfillment in the Bean distribution network.

Currently, she serves as Returns Operations Senior Manager in a facility that processes 5.5 million units per year. Barb sees the Returns Division as "the keepers of the L.L.Bean guarantee," the pledge made famous by Leon Leonwood Bean in 1912 when he introduced the Maine Hunting Shoe, a move that changed outdoor footwear forever and began one of the most successful family-run businesses in the country.

A native of Pennsylvania with a Master's Degree in Education, Barb lives in Portland, Maine where she served as City Councilor for three years.
