Dr. Song, Centre Director, Sustainability and Technology Assessment Section, Singapore Institute of Manufacturing Technology (SIMTech)

Dr Song Bin is currently the Head of Sustainability and Technology Assessment Section in SIMTech. His current areas of research are on life cycle engineering methods and tools for sustainable manufacturing, green product development, and new technology assessment based on technical, economical and ecological considerations over the life cycle. Included are the life cycle cost and environmental impacts by alternative materials, optional manufacturing processes, and product end-of-life options. He has led and participated in many research and industrial funded projects in the areas of intelligent decision-support, life cycle cost modelling and sustainability assessment, product lifecycle management, engineering process management, engineering change impact analysis, and development of a SaaS information management platform. He graduated with BEng from the Northeast University, China and obtained his PhD (Mech) from University of London, UK.
