John S. Gurecki, III (Jay) is the Obsolescence Manager, Space Shuttle Program Logistics Office, NASA. In this capacity, he is responsible for developing obsolescence management policies, serving as the focal point for obsolescence issues, and establishing a proactive, integrated program strategy and approach for managing flight hardware, material, and ground equipment obsolescence across all program elements.

Gurecki began his career at the NASA Kennedy Space Center in 1991, serving initially as a ground systems design engineer. He served as a test engineer on several International Space Station pressurized elements processed for launch at Kennedy Space Center. He also served as Principle Avionics Engineer, Space Shuttle Vehicle Engineering Office, Johnson Space Center. He was named Space Shuttle Obsolescence Manager in December 2003.

He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering and a Master of Science in Business Administration from the Florida Institute of Technology.
