
Morgan is a US citizen who lived and worked in the UK and Europe for 24 years, except for two years in the USA from August 2005 to August 2007.
After beginning his career as a management consultant in New York City specializing in acquisition due diligence, Morgan moved to London as an Executive in the Merger and Acquisition department of the merchant bank Hill Samuel plc. In 1987 he moved to The Burton Group plc, a £2 bn listed retailer where he was appointed Director of Mergers and Acquisitions in 1989.
In the early 1990’s he moved to Edinburgh, Scotland were, following a period as Managing Director of an international contractor specializing in refitting Bank interiors, he became Finance Director of a Frazier International, a private company focusing on recycling and refurbishing IT equipment originating in Scotland’s “Silicon Glen.” As the date for implementation of Europe’s “WEEE directive” grew closer, Frazier was acquired by MIREC, which operated ICT recycling facilities in 9 European countries. Morgan was Managing Director of MIREC’s Asset Management division when Sims Group acquired MIREC in October 2004. Under Sims’ ownership Morgan lead the pan-European WEEE compliance team, acting for multi-national ICT OEM’s to establish solutions to the imminent legislation, utilizing both Sims’ own facilities and those of a network of sub-contractors. In August 2005, Morgan took up a new role establishing Sims’ growing e-waste recycling business based in Hayward, California. Since returning from the USA, Morgan has focused on establishing service continuity across Sims’ sites world wide.
