After the completion of his education with Fach-Abitur FOS Nuremberg in 1985, Robert Krautheim joined Panalpina World Transport Ltd. in Nuremberg, Germany. It was here that he began his career in the logistics industry as the Import Supervisor of airfreight operations. In 1989 he moved to the Federal Express Corporation to fill the role of the Sales Supervisor. He remained in this position until 1992 when Robert became Sales Executive - Route Dev. Manager with Air Express International in Frankfurt, Germany.

In 1996 Robert moved into the position of Route Dev. Manager – DCC in Chicago, USA. After years of sales experience within the logistics industry, Robert drafted a plan to create a team devoted to Multi-national customers. This plan became a reality in 1999 when Robert was named the Director of the Global Strategic Customers (GSC) Team. The year 2000 lead to the merger between Danzas & Air Express International, as well as, more prosperous sales gains from Robert and the GSC Team. This wining combination led him to the position of Vice President of Multinational Customers within Danzas AEI International in 2001 where he was situated in Basel, Switzerland up unitl 2004.

In 2004, the DHL Group launched Global Customer Solutions, a one source solution to represent all DHL business units, where Robert accepted the Head of DHL Life Sciences & Chemicals.

In April 2005 Robert successfully led the creation of a joint venture between DHL Danzas Air & Ocean and Lufthansa Cargo named LifeConEx, and he named Chief Executive Officer, an added role to his DHL responsibilities. In 2007, after having established the new entity, he turned over the Management of LifeConEx to focus on the broader services portfolio of DHL Life Sciences and Healthcare.

Today, along with these duties, and with the acquisition and integration of Exel Logistics by the Deutsche Post World Net, Robert is active in his role as DHL President of Life Sciences and Healthcare.

Since Jan 2008 Robert took over the Role of President of Technology Global for all DHL within GCS.
