Sharon Daniel leads the Postal Service team responsible for the integration and development of strategies and enhancements to facilitate revenue growth and net contribution for USPS ground and return package, formerly known as Manager, Product Development, Package Services. Sharon has directed the implementation and expansion of USPS strategic initiatives such as Residential Delivery Indicator (RDI), and Carrier Pickup. Sharon directed the creation of Parcel Return Services, providing retailers with a convenient way to handle returns and providing a work share opportunity for shippers that leverage existing consolidator networks. She is currently developing a plan to roll out the Return Delivery Unit option nationally to over 6,200 post offices. With the increased emphasis on ground products such as Parcel Select, Sharon has assumed responsibility for its management and coordination with the USPS business partners who use Parcel Select such as APX, UPS, FedEx and DHL. She presently directs a communications effort that focuses on marketing and integration of the Postal Service’s package products.
Prior to assuming her current role, Sharon directed the Finance Department of the Expedited Package Services strategic business unit where she managed administration and program budgets. Sharon delivered relevant financial analysis for new business opportunities, prepared profit and loss statements for product lines, contributed to volume and revenue forecasts and ensured compliance on all financial policies and procedures. Sharon has testified before the Postal Rate Commission on issues ranging from letters and parcel processing costs to the impact of shape and density on delivery costs.
Prior to joining the USPS, Sharon was a management consultant for Price Waterhouse LLP, where she coordinated and executed quantitative analysis, data base management and survey fielding analysis for clients including Eastman Kodak, Internal Revenue Service and the US Postal Service.
Sharon graduated from The College of William and Mary where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and a Master of Science in Operations Research.
