7 September 2010-Volvo Construction Equipment North America has sold the rights to manufacture and sell service and replacement parts for all models Clark-Michigan product line to MinnPar, LLC, a subsidiary of PartsZone, LLC. Since 1982, MinnPar has been the trusted source for OEMs seeking a cost-effective solution to the aftermarket service parts management of non-core and discontinued product lines.
7 September 2010-Samsung India Electronics has begun a new recycling scheme in an effort to generate awareness and educate its customers on the value of diverting e-waste from landfill. In a nationwide programme roll-out, Samsung’s new Samsung Takeback and Recycle (STAR) Program will see a disposal sites set up at each of Samsung’s 235 locations across 20 cities in India. The move comes as Samsung begins to push for India to move towards more sustainable practices on e-waste and begin to mount an attack on the growing electronic waste issue building up in landfills across the developing nation.
6 September 2010-In the new organization, the two current Strategic Business Units (SBU), Consumer Electronics and System Solutions, are combined into one Business Segment named EMS (Electronics Manufacturing Services). The EMS business concentrates on serving its customers in Engineering, Manufacturing and Fulfillment services globally. The Business Segment will concentrate on serving the existing product segments and actively seeking for new segments with focus on value adding services rather than high material content. Currently the EMS business represents approximately 90% of Elcoteq’s net sales.
Bangalore—6 September 2010—Despite the Indian retail sector being in the high-growth mode, the country is losing $65 billion every year due to inefficient supply chain systems. According to a report titled, ‘Global competitiveness of retail supply chain-Challenges, Strategies and Recommendations’ published by industry body Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and Amarthi Consulting, supply chain costs in India are about 12 percent to 13 percent of the gross domestic product (GDP) compared with 7 percent to 8 percent of GDP in developed countries.
3 September 2010-Logistics firm DHL has agreed a deal with technology support company Regenersis to open a mobile phone repair and return centre in West Yorkshire. The two firms said the four year contract was for a multi-million pound sum. It will see a centre of excellence created for returned phones at the DHL facility at Normanton.
